9rules Round IV Results: 111 Sites Make The Cut
Monday, June 5th, 2006 by MR
I opened up my feedreader of choice this morning and it seemed as though my entire list blew up with chatter surrounding the 111 sites that were selected out of the 700 who submitted (Paul forgot hyperlinks on the 9r blog entry, Tyme has a big clickable list.)
The official entry received over 50 trackbacks, and my Feedster and Technorati feeds for the “9rules” query blew up with hundreds more hits from bloggers who talked about the list. It seemed like I couldn’t go anywhere in the blogosphere this weekend without reading about 9rules — a concept and feeling that is fantastic considering all the hard work the team and I (and the members) have put in over the past year or so.
We may not have a Techcrunch profile, San Francisco offices, open bar parties, or 7 figures of VC money, but we do have thousands of people who want to join the 9rules Network along with a massive group of evangelists who support us 100%, and I wouldn’t trade those in for anything else in the world.

I was one of the poor souls that didn’t make the cut, but the sites that made it were excellent sites. I think this just makes 9rules that much better, as there were an array of sites on different topics.
I still support 9rules (just not with the logo on my page..hehe). Keep up the good work - the quality is what keeps people coming back.
Peace,
Nate

Hey Nate, thanks a lot for the comment and the good will about the whole thing, we very much still appreciate your support, and the support of anyone else who is either outside or inside the Network. We’re actually working pretty hard on some new initiatives that let 9rules supporters (whether they’re in the Network or not) support us via leaf-style badges on their sites, so maybe you can wear those proudly when they come out :)
Thanks again!

I heard there is some sort of Cracker Jacks secret decoder ring involved?
On a more serious note, 9rules blogs - for the most part - offer a level of writing unmatched on any other network. If readers are interested in a concentrated source of content by bloggers who write with passion and determination, then 9rules is the place to be. That notion alone is enough to make non-9rulers aspiring “potential members”. Association alone is a milestone marker worth scratching.
*cough* Someone take the mic away from me.

Thanks Derek!! Also, there’s no secret decoder ring, but there are some pretty deep discounts on (mt) hosting and early access to almost any startup beta you want ;)

Seems like 9rules is the place to be at the moment. It’s nice to be able to say you made the cut. Though as I understand it, this list of 111 blogs is not a definiteive list?
Anyway, good job putting together what is probably the best collection of blogs in the web.

Rich, there are only some formalities left at this point so I’d say the list is a pretty good indicator of who will be joining 9rules. Member agreements and emails will be sent out very soon, so stay tuned.

Hi Mike
I was one of the lucky ones that made it onto the list so thankyou for giving the opportunity to join the ranks. It is an honour to have the chance to raise the bar on what I do and I look forward to having the support of the people who I have been influenced by over the years.
It is going to be great fun contributing and I hope that people will enjoy what I have to offer. I wish the formalities would hurry up though… this has been an interesting waiting game…
As for the sites that never got in, I have had fun reading a lot of them and will probably continue to do so… It takes balls to get out there and bare your soul and take the effort over nurturing a blog so I respect each and every one of them…
Anyway, nuff said, just wanted to say hi and thanks…
As for the perks… they “beta” be good lol!

You don’t have to be a part of it to know it’s a good thing. That’s my stance on 9rules.
Kudos to the ideal!

Hey, I only just found this post through Technorati. I think those ’support badges’ are a real good idea. If I hadn’t been selected, I’d probably be looking out for something along those lines by now.
