Digg v3 Screenshots Leaked

…and of course they’re sent to Pimp Daddy Douglas, who else? These screenshots are stored on my Flickr account for quick retrieval but originally came from Valleywag.com. It looks as though silverorange is still doing design duties, and the new sections are a reality. Enjoy!

Great stuff, now let’s see:
- Left aligned navigation: Conventions are always good.
- “Bury story” option: Good, should be easy to remove bad postings.
- New categories “World news”, “Business”: Probably “politics too”. This can really take Digg to the next level. Or destroy it with mindless content.
- Graphics: Looks like some fancy new, bigger icons. Good stuff.
- Beta: I count two beta marks. What’s the point?!
All in all, looks like they are going for the same look, evolving it quite a bit. I guess “realigned” is the buzzword I’m looking for. :)

Good list Olav!
I guess the Beta listings mark the new sections that are in Beta, which makes me assume that some of the newer sections aren’t going to be in Beta? I guess it would look pretty stupid with 25 (this is the number I’ve heard on the new sections, not 100% sure) Beta badges all over the place, so my guess is they’re only releasing a few different sections in this iteration.
I do think that adding more than 4-5 new sections besides the established Technology one would be overkill and would suffer from quality problems.
Also, I’ve noticed that Federated Media rarely sells any ad space on the site because it’s normally filled with just Google ads. I wonder if that will change once the new site hits.

You missed the “Hang On” Ajax wait thingamajig while updating in-page content in the first screenshot.

I did, and it looks like a good thing. Ajax could have been made for a site like Digg.
Mike: Digg’s overall quality is quite poor I think, but its devoted users makes a great filter. Let’s hope that will apply to the new sections.
About advertising, it would be great to get an insight into Digg’s ad revenue. Wouldn’t consider that crowd the ad-clicking type.

I agree with Olav on this thoughts. I have found the site a little clunky at times but it is light and functional and that is what is important for the readers of Digg. That ad question is a good one too…..I do see clickers going there either.
