My Basecamp Feature
Saturday, October 15th, 2005 by MR
Almost a year ago Jason and I were collaborating on a project, and he thought a little thing I did inside of our Basecamp install was cool. Cool enough to actually integrate it into the real app. I randomly found that while going through some stuff online, and thought you guys would get a kick out of it.
Oh, and about the same time I was interviewed over there about how Business Logs uses it to manage client projects. The text is a bit dated (no, I’m not still in college!) but it’s still kinda cool ;)

Basecamp seems like a great project management tool but for lower budget people like me, paying 12 - 99 bucks/month for it is probably a bit too much. This is when Sidejobtrack comes in. I’m using it on a daily basis and I gotta say, it’s an awesome alternative for Basecamp. What’s more, it’s free and probably looks cooler. Just sharing my opinion here.

What the– ! I needed this like, last week! Thanks for pointing this little tip out, Mike. I’ve just been bolding the word (edit) and adding a time stamp after it in hopes that my client understands. So far, it works, but this is a clearer method. Nice.

I second the recommendation for SideJobTrack. Its perfect for the little freelance jobs I do now and then. Don’t get me wrong, Basecamp has been a godsend at work, but for smaller organizations (1-2 projects a month), its just not worth it. And I dont think thats really their target anyways. SideJobTrack fills the gab nicely though.
