Web 2.0 Quiz Answers

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005 by Mike Rundle

Are you Web 2.0 worthy? Find out what answers were the correct ones:

Question 1: This was supposed to be an easy one, but I guess it wasn’t too easy since a few people got it mixed up. Jesse James Garrett from Adaptive Path coined the term, and Scott McNealy is actually the CEO of Sun Microsystems. I guess I’m the only one who knows all the big tech company CEO names from memory :)

Question 2: The answer is #4, and all the other ones are basically just visual effects that have nothing to do with AJAX at all.

Question 3: You can use whatever language you want, it doesn’t matter!

Question 4: Ruby on Rails is a web framework, not an entirely new language.

Question 5: The visual effects library used all over the place is script.aculo.us, not Prototype. Prototype is a JS library that makes RoR coders feel more at home, and script.aculo.us is a visual effects library that builds on top of Prototype code.

Question 6: AJAX functionality is achieved by using XMLHttpRequest.

Question 7: “Web 2.0″ applications don’t have to follow a specific set of instructions, they just have to look nice, work correctly, and put the user first. And maybe have an API, but that’s up for debate ;)

Oh man! I can’t believe I didn’t get the first one. Haha. Exuses start now: I… mis read the question. I’m not good with names… um, there were two Javascripts answers to choose from! Er, okay. I’m done.

Thanks for the answers and once again, fun quiz.
