Joyent Acquires TextDrive

Big news (to me at least) in the industry today — our friends at TextDrive were just acquired by my favorite startup, Joyent. Joyent has some really cool web-based collaborative software that currently runs on an all-in-one device you pop into your company’s network infrastructure. Now that Joyent acquired TextDrive, a web hosting company, I’m sure this will accelerate the hosted versions of their wonderful collaborative apps. This also means that Dean Allen and John Gruber are joining forces, which means that some really hot shit is probably afoot.

Lots of congrats to everyone involved, I can’t wait to see where this leads.

Thanks for the tip, Niall!

You know something’s weird when the authors of Textile and Markdown now work for the same company.

Weird indeed John hehe. But I’m looking forward to seeing what wonderful stuff come out of this combo. All the best to you and Joyent and of course Textdrive.

My prediction: In 10 years, Google and Text* will run everything.
